Dr Hany El-Banna OBE

Dr Hany El Banna is the founder of Islamic Relief an international relief and development organisation which aims to alleviate the poverty and suffering of the world’s poorest people. He is also the founder several organisations such as the Humanitarian Forum, the Muslim Charities Forum, International HIV Fund and Zakat House. Dr El Banna was awarded the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004; in the same year Dr El Banna also received Ibn Khaldun Award for Excellence in Promoting Understanding between Global Cultures and Faiths (UK).

Abdurahman Sharif

Adurahman Sharif is a graduate in Languages from the University of Sorbonne in France and holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from the University of Pavia (Italy). He previously lived in Italy where he worked for the International NGO CISP – Sviluppo dei Popoli, of which he is also an Associate Member, and has been involved in many awareness raising activities with the Somali Diaspora. Abdurahman speaks English, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic and Somali. Since May 2009, he is the Coordinator for the Muslim Charities Forum.

Mohammad Shakir

Mohammad Shakir is a Journalism graduate with eight years of experience in journalism, broadcasting and communications. He has worked for the news agency Adfero as a researcher and sports writer and more recently, the East London Mosque as Media and Communications Officer. He also co-founded the groundbreaking media campaign, “Islam is Peace” which is still the only campaign of its kind where ordinary Muslims promote the message of peace. He is a native Londoner and has a keen interest in politics, history and spirituality.

Nasir Rafiq ACA

Nasir is the HW lead on Governance Advisory and the Third Sector including the faith / Muslim sector. Nasir spent over 7 years with PwC and KPMG auditing and advising government bodies, education establishments and charities. He has also worked as a Group Internal Auditor with Compass Group plc where he worked in the UK, Middle East, South East Asia and Europe.
